This is a set illustration of 4 characters in the same world view. They live in a society that is both like Taisho japan and 20th century Europe. I uses ukiyo-e as reference, because I want the drawings to be clean yet with painterly texture. I also appreciate the narrative aspect of ukiyo-e, and want to express mood of story and dramatic moments in my drawing. The character on the left side are siblings from a shogunate family, and the person in the middle is the new coming emperor. The character on the right is childhood friend of the emperor, and tries to assassinate the emperor for his betrayal of their friendship.
